SSC CGL Exam Pattern and Syllabus (Tier-II)

SSC CGL Tier-II exam is the second step towards SSC (Staff Selection Commission) CGL (Combined Graduate Level) career. This is also an Online exam that will be conducted by the Staff selection commission. There are in total 4 Exams in SSC CGL (Tier-II). Each exam will be of 120 min (2hrs) duration there will be 4 subjects with 100 questions with each question of 2 marks in total 200 marks in all subjects except English in English there will 1 marks for 200 questions in total 200 marks. You do not need to give all 4 exams, the exams which you need to give are specified in the note section given below the table.

Important Points Of SSC CGL Exam Pattern (Tier-II)

  • SSC CGL Tier-II has 4 papers and all of them are not compulsory to give, Paper I & Paper II are compulsory for all posts.
  • Paper III is only required for the candidates which are interested in Junior Statistical Officer (JSO) post.
  • Paper IV is only required for the candidates who are shortlisted by the Tier-I exam, and this exam is for the post of Assistant Audit Officer/ Assistant Accounts Officer.
  • Negative marking is applicable for all papers, for every wrong answer in Paper I, III & IV will deduct 0.50 in total marks. And for paper II (English) each wrong question will deduct 0.25 marks.
  • Levels of questions in this examination are provided below:
    • Paper-I (Quantitative Abilities) will be of Class 10 (Matric) Level.
    • Paper-II (English Language and Comprehension) will be of Class 12 Level.
    • Paper-III (Statistics) will be of Graduation Level.
    • Paper-IV (General Studies) will be of Graduation Level.
  • The total exam duration is 2 hrs and 40 Mins for visually handicapped candidates.

SSC CGL Tier-III exam is the third step towards SSC (Staff Selection Commission) CGL (Combined Graduate Level) career. This is also an Offline exam done on paper that will be conducted by the Staff selection commission. There are in total 1 Exams in SSC CGL (Tier-III). The exam will be of 60 min (1hrs) duration there will be 1 subject which is Language that will include language proficiency, grammar knowledge, vocabulary usage, and writing skills will be tested in English/Hindi.

SSC CGL Tier-IV Exam Pattern is the last step towards SSC (Staff Selection Commission) CGL (Combined Graduate Level) career. This is the end of the whole process where the commission will check skills and documents. There are in total 3 steps:-

  1. DEST (Data Entry Speed Test) for the post of Tax Assistants (Central Excise & Income Tax).
  2. Document Verification: The last step to the final selection would be Document Verification.
  3. CPT (Computer Proficiency Test) for the post of Assistant Section Officer of Central Secretariat Service (CSS), Assistant Section Officer (MEA), Assistant in Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs and Assistant (GSI) in the Ministry of Mines.
